The $45 million Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre was officially opened by the Minister for Families & Children, Jenny Mikakos, on 7 August.
WTP has been working with the Department for the past three years on the project as the work progressed from schematic design through to handover.
The new facility has an increased focus on education, life skills and rehabilitation of young offenders across the youth justice system..
The centre provides 45 new beds in three separate units which will enhance safety, security and flexibility for young people with complex needs and challenging behaviour. It provides the right environment for young people in need of higher security while still making sure they have access to education, health, recreation facilities. The new facility also includes administration facilities, plus a single entry screening point with the latest security for processing clients, staff and visitors.
