The Potrero Yard Modernization Project aims to replace the century-old bus yard with a state-of-the-art, four-story facility that will serve as the central hub for SFMTA’s zero-emission trolley bus fleet.
The new yard will support 246 all-electric buses, enhancing maintenance efficiency and contributing to San Francisco’s goal of operating an all-electric fleet by 2040.
The project also includes plans for up to 465 residential units, integrating affordable and workforce housing above the transit facility, making it the first of its kind in the United States. Additional features encompass ground-floor retail spaces, public art installations and improved pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure.
