Harborview Medical Center underwent significant electrical infrastructure upgrades to improve energy resilience and sustainability. In 2017, the hospital installed a 100-kilowatt solar array atop its West Hospital building—the largest solar installation on a Washington State hospital at the time.
The project was part of Harborview’s broader goal to reduce energy costs, increase emergency backup capabilities and advance carbon reduction efforts. Additional infrastructure improvements were later included under the Harborview Bond Program, approved by voters in 2020.
WT developed a cost estimate for the repair work using electrical equipment pricing provided by others and to include a round of reconciliation with the selected electrical contractor.
