The new Western Sydney Stadium, commonly known as Bankwest Stadium, is the center piece to New South Wales Government’s $1.6 billion Stadia Strategy. This strategy endeavors to improve sporting infrastructure throughout Sydney, and at it’s core is the Bankwest Stadium. The primary teams currently using the facility are the Western Sydney Wanderers and the Parramatta Eels for the A-League Football and National Rugby league respectively.

The new 80,000 square meter Stadium replaced the outdated Parramatta Stadium. The Project created 1,200 jobs during the construction period and currently supports 600-900 during it’s operations. This was one of New South Wales largest projects. The stadium has been designed with the people of Western Sydney in mind and accommodates the nation’s largest attractions. The stadium caters for some of the largest international sporting events, such as the Asian Champions League, and has been designed to regularly host the it’s A-League and National Rugby teams.

Demolition began in late 2017 and the stadium opened in April 2019. One of the key features of this Project is the increased seating capacity by roughly 10,000. This brought a total of 30,000 covered seats for athletic spectators and the capacity to hold 40,000 patrons for entertainment & concerts related events. Also, the new stadium provides high-quality food and beverage facilities, and contains five levels of function spaces that include advanced, yet user friendly technology.
