WT Partnership was engaged in 2006 to provide full cost planning and quantity surveying services for the refurbishment of the Melbourne Cricket Ground’s Great Southern Stand.

The project included improvements to every level of the 45,000 seat grand stand. Entry points at gates 4, 5, 6 and 7 were redeveloped to create open, light spaces similar to those enjoyed by patrons to the MCG’s Northern Stand.

The works also incorporated major upgrade to the Ground’s hospitality services including upgraded kitchen areas, improved food and beverage outlets, new food courts and the redevelopment of nine existing corporate suites to create a new 500-seat dining room.

Infrastructure works also included upgraded audio-visual systems and signage along with major upgrade works to public toilet facilities.

Construction works were staged to minimize disruption to the AFL and cricket fixtures. The project was completed in 2013.
