Senior Advisor – Sports, Venues & Entertainment
Based: Santa Monica
I have unique mix of experience as a stadium manager, an event manager, and as a new stadium construction owner’s representative. From 2001 when I graduated with my sports management degree to 2015 I held a number of positions in facility and event management which included experience as a stadium facility director where I was responsible for physical plant systems, operations and maintenance, security, housekeeping, capital improvement planning, operating budgets, and strategic planning. As well as hosting many major events including professional and collegiate football, numerous concerts, FIFA soccer events, festivals, and championship games.
I was Senior Director of Stadium Operations for the Winnipeg Football Club through the transition from the closing of Canad Inns Stadium in 2013 and the opening of the newly constructed Investors Group Field. Through this process as the end-user I learned a lot about the various stages to successful stadium development and ongoing operations, knowledge that I took to the next step in my career when I decided to move over to the development side of new sports and entertainment facilities. I have now been involved in numerous projects throughout North America, most notably as Project Manager/ Owner’s representative for the new Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Canada, and with the new Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have also performed operational, performance reviews with various stadiums, Arenas, and ballparks.
Stadium and Arenas of all shapes and sizes are city landmarks and are very important to the communities they serve. They have also become some of the most complex, technologically advanced buildings on the planet. It is crucial that the ownership group is represented by knowledgeable, effective representatives. To truly deliver a high performing, successful venue it is imperative that the Owner’s Project Requirements and building intent are clearly established and then tied to design, operational functionality, strategic planning and all major changes through all phases of the project.
I pride myself as being a stadium enthusiast, which includes continuous learning in all aspects of stadium development and operations. Including new strategies, technologies, systems, and best practices; which allows me to provide vital information to the ownership group to make informed decisions through all stages of development.
