Project Description

Client:

NL Healthcare Partners/Government of Newfoundland and Labrador/Central Regional Health Authority

Contract Value:

$180 Million (CAD)

In April 2019, the provincial government of Newfoundland and Labrador selected NL Healthcare Partners to design, build, finance and maintain the Gander and Grand Falls-Windsor Care Homes project in a public-private partnership. The project comprises two facilities, one in Gander and one in Grand Falls-Windsor, that will each provide 60 long-term care beds. The Gander facility will be designed and constructed with the potential for future expansion of approximately 105 additional beds. Addressing pressures on the long-term care system in the province, the project is focused on improving access to bed placement.

Construction on both projects began in June 2019 and is projected to generate more than 343 person-years of employment and $39 million in economic activity in the province. This initiative delivers on the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador`s commitment to strengthen the province’s economic foundation and deliver better services and better outcomes for residents.
