NOVA 106.9 March Charge
I was heading to Toowoomba (2hrs west of Brisbane) for a PCG and listening to Nova one morning back in February. The three commentators from the Brisbane morning breakfast show (ash, kip and luttsy) had organised a competition/fund raising event which was in the form of relay race against Susie O’Neil (aka Madam Butterfly – and an Australian Swimming legend). I entered online and didn’t think much of it until by chance I received an email from Nova a couple of weeks later saying I had been picked for one of the teams.
Each person in the three teams had to swim 50m in a relay against Susie who would swim the full 200m on her own. So there you have it, 1st March with budgie smugglers and full chest of hair (note I got a special mention from Ray Warren in his commentary), I was off to Yeronga pool for the big race… Susie is still an absolute weapon and we managed to beat her by just a thread.
